Large earthenware group from Niderviller, this one seems unpublished to date, it is inspired by "the deceived blind man" according
to J.B Greuze. This group on a rectangular base in imitation of marble, with natural polychrome decoration, representing a couple
of young peasants welcoming a blind man, seated on a chair holding the hand of the young peasant, the couple seems to listen to
this poor man, the young peasant pouring him a drink from a cup. These characters are in front of a stone wall pierced with two
openings, one of which has a grid, simulating the interior of a dwelling, a shelf on the wall presents a piece of cheese and some
kitchen utensils.
Eighteenth century - Around 1770-1780
Marked below the two CC for Custine.
Registered in the "Book of Forms" of the Niderviller factory under the n°19 of the groups. This group seems the only one known
to date.
State of conservation: The top of the chair damaged.
Dimensions: 24.5 x 24.5cm.
